General

The war memorial in Fahernorf is a memorial to the fallen soldiers of the First World War in the villages of Kirchdorf and Führenorf, from which the village of Kirchfahorf was created. It stands on a two-tiered base and is made of shell limestone . The war memorial was inaugurated on May 23, 1920. Originally it was crowned by an iron cross and decorated with a steel helmet with a laurel wreath on the front. These were removed in 1945 or 1946. The inscriptions, which included the names of the fallen with their dates of death, are no longer legible. Thanks to old records, however, they could be determined. A plaque was made with the names and places of death of the fallen; Like the plaque with the names of those who died in World War II, it is in the church .
