The war memorial Pödelist is a listed war memorial in the village of Pödelist in the municipality of Freyburg in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the memorial stone is listed as a monument under registration number 094 82900 .

The Pödelist war memorial is a stele that stands on a stepped plinth. The stele was originally erected for those who fell in the wars of 1866 and 1870/71. The data were later expanded to include those who participated in the two world wars. The stele was decorated with some reliefs, such as the imperial eagle. The stele is crowned by a cannonball with an iron cross on it. The inscription on the front reads SOLI DEI GLORIA . The inscription on the left is dedicated to the draftsmen of the war of 1866 and on the right to those of the war of 1870/71. The inscription on the back of the stele is an obituary and reads Ernst Theuring, this brave hero. He is no longer in this world. Very courageously fought in Bohemia, In France, faithfully for German land. This courageous warrior rests in Trier. He did not return as a winner. Sleep well in your cool grave.
