The Hofmann GmbH Maschinenfabrik and sales (short and self spelling: HOFMANN GmbH ) is a German company of Fahrbahnmarkiertechnik with seat in Rellingen . The family company develops , produces and sells road marking machines of all sizes. It also offers complementary products such as drying and demarking machines as well as melting systems.

history

Walter Hofmann (1907–1999), who began building and designing agricultural machinery , founded the company in 1952 in Hamburg . In 1962 he moved the headquarters to Egenbüttel (today Rellingen). Three years later, production also moved to the Hamburg suburb .

In 1955 the company launched its first special machine, the roll disc marker . Since then, it has developed a wide variety of machines, components and systems that differ in their dimensions , drives , application systems , environmental compatibility , functions and technical performance data. In this context, the company applied for a number of patents for painting and spraying technology. Furthermore, it repeatedly expanded the company premises .

In 1982 the sole proprietorship became Walter Hofmann GmbH. In 1992 the founder left the company as managing director, his son Frank Hofmann took over the management.

In 1990 the Rellingen-based company acquired S + S Gesellschaft für Sicherheit auf Straßen mbH , which operates from Quickborn and is also active in road marking technology . Manufacture and sale of road marking machines . Twelve years later merged the two companies completely, since then (2002) renamed the company as Hofmann GmbH. At the beginning of 2008 Jan Hofmann, the grandson of the company founder, joined the management.

The first decade of the 21st century was marked by significant growth. The number of employees rose from 67 (end of 2000) to 100 (mid-2011). In March 2009 the VDI nachrichten included the company in the list of the fastest growing medium - sized industrial companies.

In 2012 the company developed the first line width stabilizer. It automatically keeps the variance of the line width within narrow limits during path-dependent airless spraying.

The company's products are sold worldwide, for example in 132 countries in 2011. The company supports its global sales and service through a network of more than 60 partners and extended partners. The export share on revenue is about 90 percent.

The devices are mainly used for marking public roads and at airports ( aprons and runways ). They are also occasionally used on the premises of companies and stadiums . In its special market with around a dozen competitors, the Rellingen provider is considered the market leader.

The company's portfolio includes road marking machines from hand-held devices to ride-on devices in mini-tractor format to trucks with special bodies. Special accessories and equipment are also offered, such as drying machines, demarking machines, trailers or line division electronics , as well as cookers for the material to be applied. The shape, material, width and pattern of the applications are varied.

Hofmann GmbH has been organizing technology days on its Rellingen premises since 2001. This event is regarded as an in- house and trade fair for an audience made up of representatives from manufacturers, suppliers, associations, government officials, customers and scientists.
