War memorial 1813/1814 (Frankfurt am Main)

The war memorial for the 1813/1814 campaign was donated by the Senate of the City of Frankfurt am Main on July 5, 1814 and awarded to citizens of the city who had voluntarily taken up arms to participate in the war of liberation against Napoléon .

The round medal shows the Frankfurt coat of arms, an eagle looking to the left with outspread wings, and underneath the letters SPQF (Senate and People of Frankfurt). All around the inscription GOD SPRACH IT BE LICHT AND IT WARD LICHT . The four-line inscription FOR GERMANY'S LIBERATION 1813 in the center of the reverse . 1814. and all around SHEET OF VOLUNTEERS FROM FRANKFURT AM MAIN .

The award was worn on a white ribbon with red stripes on the left side of the chest.

In total, the medal was awarded six times in gold and around 350 times in silver . The bronze medals were not awarded.
