War Hospital (Ingolstadt)
The war hospital is a brick building that belonged to the Ingolstadt fortress .
It was built in 1861–1864 as a bomb-proof hospital for the treatment of soldiers from the Bavarian Army . At that time, Ingolstadt was a fortress town and was home to almost twice as many military as civilians. During the expansion into a garrison town , several large military buildings were built in the old town, including the war hospital.
At the time of National Socialism , the war hospital was used by the Wehrmacht as a barracks under the name Flandernkaserne .
Today the building is the headquarters of the state college and vocational college in Ingolstadt . It is located at Jesuitenstrasse 2 (Oberer Graben 4) and is a listed building .
