Lippe War Merit Cross

The War Merit Cross was donated on December 8, 1914 by Prince Leopold IV zur Lippe and could be awarded to all persons who, through bravery or special achievements in the war , or through services earned at home to the interests of the army, e.g. B. Services for the troops, care for the wounded, official or private activities that promote military success, have earned.

The cross made of gun bronze has the shape of the Iron Cross . In the middle you can see the Lippe rose , which is surrounded by a laurel wreath . On the upper cross arm a large L towered over by the princely crown , in the lower cross arm the year 1914 . On the back of the arms of the cross the inscription (from top to bottom) FOR DISTINCTION IN WAR .

For war merit the ribbon is golden yellow with a red and white side stripe, for homeland merit white with red and golden yellow side stripes.

With the abdication of Prince Leopold IV on November 11, 1918, the order was no longer awarded.
