The Krishansar Lake is a mountain lake in the western Himalayas in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir .
Krishansar Lake is located 45 km north-northeast of Srinagar in the Bandipore District . The lake, at an altitude of 3801 m , is considered to be the origin of the Nilam . The Krishansar Lake is drained via the 1.5 km southeast of Vishansar Lake . Krishansar Lake is a tourist destination. A starting point for tours to Krishansar Lake is the village of Sonamarg, 20 km east-southeast in the river valley of the Sind . The lake surface freezes in the months of December to April.
