Kristín Ómarsdóttir (born September 24, 1962 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic author .

She studied literature and Spanish at the University of Iceland .

Kristín Ómarsdóttir has written poetry as well as novels , short stories and plays . Her first publication was the volume of poetry " Í húsinu okkar er þoka " ( There is fog in our house ) in 1987. Her first novel " Svartir brúðarkjólar " ( Black Wedding Dresses ) was published in 1992. To date, she has created an extensive work and has received several awards.

She is published by the Icelandic publisher Salka (formerly Edda ), the German translations are published by die horen .
