Criticism and Practice Berlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Criticism and Practice Berlin (KP Berlin) group was an antifa group. According to its self-image, it was undogmatic, Marxist- oriented. Criticism and Practice Berlin officially disbanded on October 22, 2006.

The Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution has observed the group since it was founded and classified it as left-wing extremist .

The group emerged from the wing of the former Antifascist Action Berlin (AAB), which wanted to develop a long-term perspective for overcoming the system through theoretical work and acted less action-related. Accordingly, anti-fascism should no longer be the exclusive focal point of the argumentation of the KP Berlin, but the group is now - in detachment from the dominant anti-fascist orientation of the AAB - more focused on the topic of 'anti-capitalism'. Criticism of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism within the left was particularly important to the group. It was therefore often referred to as a group of the anti-German current, although it did not belong to this spectrum. Classic anti-German groups accordingly always harbored a certain suspicion of the KP Berlin.

The KP Berlin organized events on the subject of anti-fascism , criticism of capitalism and anti-Semitism. Among other things, she was instrumental in organizing a revolutionary May Day demonstration in 2003. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation , on May 7, 2005, together with the weekly newspaper Jungle World , she organized an open air festival under the motto “Germany you sacrifice ”.

On October 22, 2006, the group posted a notice of termination on its website. It says, among other things:

“The aim of the Critique and Practice group was to achieve a continuous process of left-wing radical politics. An important component should be a critique of capitalism up to date, which should be conveyed with practical actions. Looking back over the past 3 years, we have to state that we have not been able to meet this claim. […] The Critique and Practice Berlin project is hereby ended, but not the political work of those involved. We will continue to be active in the area of anti-fascist and anti-capitalist politics. We will find and invent new forms in which we will fight against capitalism and exploitation. "

The group theory, organization, practice (TOP Berlin) was founded as a successor organization, which first appeared public in December 2006 through a joint appeal with the Göttingen antifa group Redical [M] and the Frankfurt-based autonomous antifa [f] . These three groups are still an integral part of the nationwide active left-wing radical alliance Umsollen! . In 2007, the majority of former members of the KP Berlin founded the social struggles group , which can be seen as another successor organization.
