Critical Robert Walser edition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Critical Robert Walser Edition (KWA) is an edition of all of Robert Walser's prints and manuscripts that has been published since 2008 .

scope

The edition comprises 6 sections with approx. 46 volumes. It is considered a critical hybrid edition, i.e. H. designed as a connection between book edition and electronic edition . The KWA is edited by Wolfram Groddeck and Barbara von Reibnitz and developed at the Universities of Zurich and Basel with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation . It has been published by Stroemfeld and Schwabe since 2008 . The KWA differs from the previous editions of Robert Walser in its completeness in text and text genesis as well as systematic documentation of the materiality and mediality of Walser's literary production.

In sections I – III, all first prints are published during his lifetime; Section I contains the book publications, in Section II and III the widely dispersed literature of the “small forms”, which forms the majority of the published work, is edited after the first publications in the various magazines and newspapers. The contemporary literary and political context of Walser's publications is systematically shown for the first time.

In sections IV – VI, all manuscripts are facsimile and reproduced in transcriptions , including the fair copy manuscripts of the novels, the individual manuscripts and the so-called micrograms, which have only been partially published so far.

Department VII is intended for letters from and to Robert Walser. It is not yet fully planned in detail.

In the last section VIII, the contemporary impact is documented through reviews and other texts about Robert Walser.

The accompanying electronic edition (KWA e ) makes the texts edited in the book edition digitally accessible and links them with the facsimiles of the first prints or manuscripts. It also contains a finding aid listing all of Robert Walser's prints and manuscripts according to headings and incipits.
