Songs

At the beginning of the 1971 film “Cheburashka”, crocodile Gena sings his birthday song (Пусть бегут неуклюже…). In the chorus it is complained that one unfortunately only has a birthday once a year (к сожалению день рождения только раз в году). The lyrics to the song were written by Alexander Timofejewski and became very popular. In the Russian-speaking culture it is often taught as a nursery rhyme and sung on birthdays . The songwriter Gerhard Schöne wrote a German version of this song . Another popular song Gena sings at the end of the third film. It is called "The Blue Wagon" (Голубой вагон) and comes from the pen of Eduard Uspenski. Both songs were composed by Wladimir Schainski and convey a rather sad and melancholy mood.
