Soyuzmultfilm

Soyuzmultfilm ( Kyrill. Союзмультфильм, for example Union animated film ) is a Russian animation film studio in Moscow . Since it was founded on June 10, 1936, over 1,500 films have been made for cinema and television, which have won numerous national and international awards and made Soyuzmultfilm the most important animation studio in the Soviet Union . The company's mascot is the mythical creature " Cheburashka " (ruled by Roman Katschanow ).

Well-known television series and cartoons that were produced here included The Snow Queen (1957), Crocodile Gena , Pooh the Pooh (both 1969), Hase and Wolf (1969-1993), Cheburashka (1971), The Hedgehog in the Fog (1975 ) and The Story of Stories (1979; like the previous one by director Juri Norstein , was awarded “Best Animated Film of All Time” in 1984 at the Olympic Arts Festival in Los Angeles and again in 2002), The Secret of the Third Planet(1981). Due to their popularity, they found their way into everyday Soviet culture from the 1960s to 1980s. In addition to the aforementioned Norstein, artists such as Alexander Lukitsch Ptuschko or later Stanislaw Sokolow worked for Soyuzmultfilm.

The studio was attractive because of the great artistic freedom that was granted and the extraordinary artistic versatility of the work. The fact that the creators, as state employees, were not under the pressure of commercial success had a positive effect.

After the end of the Soviet era, Soyuzmultfilm was privatized and cannibalized by new management. 90 percent of the 600 skilled workers previously employed lost their jobs. Neither in the quantity nor the quality of the products was it able to build on its golden age.
