Kronenbourg is the largest French brewery . The former headquarters in the Strasbourg district of Cronenbourg is also the namesake of the company; the main plant there stopped production in 2001. It is now brewed in Obernai in Alsace . The Kronenbourg brewery has a market share of 30% in France.

history

Kronenbourg was founded in 1664 by Jérôme Hatt from Strasbourg.

In the company's history, the name has been changed several times due to the partly German, partly French history of Strasbourg (first Brasserie Hatt, then Tigre Bock, Kronenburg, Cronenbourg, Kronenbourg).

From 2000 to 2008 Kronenbourg was a subsidiary of Scottish & Newcastle . Since April 29, 2008, Kronenbourg has been a subsidiary of Carlsberg following the takeover of Scottish & Newcastle by Heineken and Carlsberg .
