Kropemann
The Kropemann (literally translated: "Hakenmann") is a legendary figure from Luxembourg who can be assigned to the water spirits . It is the landmark of the municipality of Redingen an der Attert .

The Kropemann is depicted as a gloomy, devious figure who lives in the Attert , a river in the west of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg . Depictions show him as a little man with a long, shaggy beard and tattered clothes, whose body is overgrown with algae and other plants. He carries a hook pole (lux .: Kropestaang) with him, with which he pulls his victims down into the depths of the river.

There he holds them prisoner and devours them or lets them do their services for him.
This story is told to Luxembourgish children to keep them from approaching places where they can drown, such as rivers , streams , ponds , lakes , springs , weirs or wells .

Festivals
