The Attert (luxemb. Atert ) is a 38 kilometer long river that has its source in southeastern Belgium , but mostly flows through Luxembourg . It has a catchment area of ​​approx. 299 km².

The source is located at around 406 meters above sea level near the eastern Belgian town of Thiaumont , a good 11 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital Arlon . The headwaters are on the southern edge of the Ardennes . The river runs in an easterly direction and shortly after the Belgian towns of Attert and Grendel it reaches the border with Luxembourg.

Larger places along the river are also Redingen , Useldingen (lux. Useldéng ), Böwingen / Attert and Bissen . At Colmar-Berg (lux. Kolmar-Bierg ) the Attert flows into the Alzette (lux. Uelzecht ) about four kilometers south of the city of Ettelbrück at an altitude of 200 meters .
