Matthew Church

Krosna is a town in the Lazdijai district , in the Alytus district , in southwestern Lithuania . The town ( miestelis ) is located on the highway 131 ( Alytus - Simnas - Kalvarija ), 8 km west of Simnas. Krosna is the center of the Krosna County. There is the Catholic St. Matthew Church, built in 1842 (actually "Holy Apostle Evangelist St. Matthew Church", Lithuanian : Šv. Apaštalo evangelisto Mato bažnyčia ), a post office (zip code: LT-67071) and the Žuvintas protected area.

history

The Krosna Manor was first mentioned in 1688. The place was first mentioned as Krasnica in the 16th century.

There has been a library since 1947. In 1950 a 7-class school was founded. From 1969 to 1996 there was a middle school , from 1996 to 2001 a Progymnasium . From 2001 there was the Krosna secondary school (today Krosna School, lit. Krosnos mokykla ).
