Building Krumbachweg 10 in Kaltern

The building at Krumbachweg 10 is a monument in the Mitterdorf district of the municipality of Kaltern in South Tyrol . As such, it was placed under protection on October 20, 1975.

Location and history

The house is located in the historic center of Mitterdorf between the St. Catherine Church and the Kampan residence. The above mentioned, outstanding monuments of Mitterdorf received their present appearance in the 16th century. The late Gothic room paneling in the building at Krumbachweg 10 is evidence of its existence at that time. The bay window and the sandstone-framed windows are typical elements of the so-called Überetscher style . The use of the property was mainly agricultural until it was vacant in the 2000s.

Architectural features

The building consists of a residential wing with vaulted cellars and an attached threshing floor with barn. The street-side facade is very strongly curved. Characteristic for the facade are the sandstone-framed windows and the arched, arched oriel, which was added in the Baroque era. Its parapet painting dates from 1737. It shows three images of mercy from Kalter: left the Mater Dolorosa (the miraculous image of St. Nicholas ), in the middle an Ecce Homo scene with Pilate and a hunter (the miraculous image of Mitterdorf), and right the St. . Anthony of Padua (the miraculous image of the Franciscan Church in Kaltern ). On the first floor there is a room with a late Gothic ceiling paneling and a bay window with groin vault.

Todays use

After years of vacancy and decay, the house was completely renovated in 2011–2013 according to the designs of the architect Katrin Lahner. Today it serves as a residential building.
