Crooked House (Bützow)
The Krumme Haus is an old building in Bützow at Schlossplatz 2. Today it houses the city library , the local history museum and the documentation on the political abuse of the penal system in Bützow

As part of the episcopal castle , the Crooked House was built in the 15th century and used as a farm building and horse stable. Duke Friedrich left it in 1769 for donated by his library of Fridericiana to a public hall library with an area of 200 2 rebuild. When it was officially opened on November 7, 1772, the twelve-year-old University of Bützow had the first public library in Mecklenburg . With the relocation of the university to Rostock (1789) the library came to the Rostock University Library . The Crooked House was rebuilt. So-called "grace apartments" were created for the Dreibergen prison. Used exclusively for residential purposes in the 20th century, the Krumme Haus was restored from 1998 . Since January 2000 it has been used today. In 2003 the documentation on the political abuse of the penal system was set up.
