Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) is a Malaysian multinational company . The core business of the group is the operation of plantations ( oil palms and rubber ). The company has plantations covering more than 270,000 hectares. in Malaysia (Peninsular and Sabah ) and Indonesia ( Belitung , Sumatra and Kalimantan ). Since the 1990s the company has diversified its business activities such as B. Resource-based manufacturing ( oleochemicals , derivatives and specialty chemicals), real estate development and retail (personal care products, toiletries and delicatessen products) with a global presence. The company is listed on “Bursa Malaysia” and is Malaysia's third largest palm oil producer. KLK was ranked 1858 in Forbes Global 2000 Leading Companies in 2013 with a market capitalization of $ 6.91 billion . In 2014, with a brand value of USD 364 million, KLK was ranked 23rd as the most valuable brand in Malaysia at the “Malaysia 100 2014”. The late Tan Sri Dato 'Thong Yaw Hong, former Secretary General of the Malaysian Ministry of Finance, sat on the KLK board. Dato 'Lee Oi Hian, the CEO of KLK, was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council.
history
KLR was founded in London in 1906 to cultivate around 600 hectares of plantation area (rubber and coffee) in Malaysia. In 1907 the shares of KLR were listed on the London Stock Exchange.
In 1960, KLR changed its name to KLKA. The group began growing oil palms in Fraser Estate. The group's first mill, the Fraser Mill, opened in 1967. In 1971 KLKA opened its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The following year, KLKA's tax residence was relocated from the UK to Malaysia.
In 1973, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad ("KLK") was established in Malaysia and as part of a reconstruction program, KLKA went into voluntary liquidation , with KLK taking over the assets and liabilities of KLKA. The company's shares are listed on the Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and London stock exchanges. In 1979 the headquarters were relocated from Kuala Lumpur to Ladang Pinji, Perak.

Plantations
Operating plantations is KLK's core business. KLK currently has more than 270,000 hectares of plantation in Malaysia and Indonesia. The annual production for “fresh fruit bunches” (FFB) is 3.6 million tons. The harvest is processed in KLK's own mills and refineries. The products produced include raw palm oil, refined, bleached and deodorized (RBD - refined, bleached, deodorized) palm olein and stearin, as well as palm kernel oil and palm press cake. Oleochemicals
The core company in this sector is KLK Oleo, one of the world's largest manufacturers of oleochemical products based on palm oil. KLK made its entry into oleochemicals back in 1991 with the opening of Palm-Oleo Sdn. Bhd. The company denied the allegations that the company employed forced laborers in the sense that they were employed by a supplier company, with which all contracts were subsequently terminated.
