Kulgera is a small settlement in the Northern Territory of Australia . It is 275 kilometers from Alice Springs and 13 miles from the border with South Australia . This makes Kulgera the southernmost inhabited place in the Northern Territory. Kulgera is on the Stuart Highway , where the road to Aputula (Finke) branches off from it. In 2006 the place had 50 inhabitants.

Kulgera is the Aboriginal name for a granite rock east of the village.

Kulgera is on the Stuart Highway and is regularly served by Greyhound Australia . There is a train station twelve kilometers from the settlement, which the Ghan serves twice a week in each direction.

The airport Kulgera Airport ( IATA : KGR, ICAO : YKUL) is close to the settlement, but is only used by charter aircraft.
