Kulti ( Bengali : কুলটি) was a city in the Indian state of West Bengal with around 314,000 inhabitants (2011 census). The city has been part of the Asansol Municipal Corporation since 2015 .
Kulti is an industrial site and in 1904 it was the first city in India to produce steel .

Literacy is thus far above the national average and that of West Bengal. Almost 78.7% of the population are Hindus , approx. 19.9% are Muslims , approx. 0.6% are Sikhs , approx. 0.1% are Christians and approx. 0.5% did not declare any religious affiliation or practiced another Religions. Children under 6 years of age are 11.3% of the population. Almost 56.4% of the population live in slums or slums.
