Memorial for lost biodiversity

The "memorial for lost biodiversity" was erected in 1997 by Ingeborg Strobl . The memorial shows the loss of biodiversity using the example of cattle breeds . The monument is a simple block made of limestone in which the names of the cattle breeds native to Lower Austria from 1880 and 1996 are engraved, documenting the decline from 14 to 3 species becomes.

The project “Discovery of the Corridors” by the artist duo PRINZGAU / podgorschek

"Discovery of the corridors"

This project was set up by the artist duo PRINZGAU / podgorschek in 1995. It was also the start project of the cultural landscape. Here a fictional excavation is shown showing a piece of the motorway. This is - like the Roman roads in some places today - partly reconstructed and maintained for the general public to view. The autobahn is an allusion to a planned autobahn through the Weinviertel from the Nazi era that was supposed to pass here. The route, now known as the A5 Nordautobahn , was not yet known at the time the project was built; it was only opened in 2009.

Sound atoll

The "Klangatoll" was built by Andrea Sodomka and Martin Breindl in 1996. The viewer should pause in a round earth wall with only one access opening. Inside the sound atoll, shielded from the wind and the view of the surrounding landscape, he can listen to an acoustic portrait of the landscape that contains noises from nature and the civilization of the surrounding area.

Iron Cross

The cross was erected by locksmith and blacksmith students from the Mistelbach trade school (headed by Gerhard Rötzer). It is about 3 meters high and consists of small iron parts welded together. In some cases, elements were reused whose original use can still be seen. The cross is located at a point with a view of the town of Paasdorf and on the one hand represents the deep religious roots of the region, but through its design creates the connection to modernity, which the projects of the cultural landscape represent.

Ornament fragment

This project was set up by Maria Hahnenkamp in 2000. The object erected in the entrance area of the cultural landscape consists of a concrete surface with ornament-like recesses that were left to nature. As a result, the appearance of the ornament changes over the course of the seasons and years. The template for the ornament itself comes from a template book from 1860.

Wind cube house

The "wind cube house" was built by Eva Afuhs in 1998. It consists of two "identical" elements made of pig iron. One element lies spread out on a slope, the other folded into a cube in a depression below. The two states represent situations that the wind creates with an element made of light material (e.g. cardboard ) and changes immediately with the next gust of wind. But not with a material made of pig iron that freezes these two of the innumerable possibilities of states of this element like a photograph.
