Korundi is a cultural center in Rovaniemi built in a former Finnish Post vehicle depot . The building from 1933 is one of the best preserved buildings in the area after the Second World War . The building was previously used by the Rovaniemi Art Museum . The conversion to a cultural center took place in the years 2009 to 2011, among other things with money from the European Fund for Regional Development . A new building was erected in the inner courtyard, which is currently the seat of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra . The art museum received new exhibition, storage and office space.

The Korundi cultural center opened on May 25, 2011.

The spacious two-story building made of red brick was later extended on the north side. The extension designed by Juhani Pallasmaa was used for the art museum from 1986. The main entrance, accessible from Lapinkävijäntie, is adorned by four granite columns.

The name Korundi was chosen from suggestions made by the population. The mineral corundum is common in Lapland .

The total area of ​​the property is 5,300 m².
