Kultura i Schyttja ( Ukrainian Культура і життя , German: Culture and Life ) is a national weekly newspaper in Ukraine . The newspaper writes about Ukrainian culture, history and talented but not very famous people. It supports the state's cultural policy.

Founded on October 7, 1923 under the name of Literature, Science and Art , the newspaper provides news on all areas of national culture and was originally published in Kharkiv . The first editor was Vasyl Ellan-Blakytnyj .

Between January 1929 and November 2, 1929 the newspaper was called Literature and Art . During the Second World War , it was published weekly in different cities on four large-format pages as a standard Soviet propaganda tool. From 1945 to 1954 it was called Soviet Art and from 1955 to 1965 it was called Soviet Culture . The newspaper was given its current name on May 3, 1965.

The newspaper is subscribed to nationwide, particularly in Kiev , Odessa and Lviv .

“Culture and Life” appears weekly and has different categories such as: “Cinema”, “Theater”, “Music”, “History” and others. In 2013 the newspaper celebrated its 90th anniversary.
