The Cultural Center of San Clemente in Toledo of the Provincial Council of Toledo (Diputación de Toledo) houses the museum , the library and a restoration department.

building

The cultural center is part of the 12th century Cistercian convent of San Clemente with two inner courtyards and two overlapping floors with rounded arches and architraves. They are supported by carved stone pillars. Various renovations were carried out in the 16th century to highlight the plateresque ceiling by the architect Alonso de Covarrubias , which still serves as the entrance today. The center was renovated in 2000 and now houses ten exhibition rooms for contemporary art, the Diputación library, a restoration department and the Juana de Mariana study center.

Exhibitions

The museum has its own collection of contemporary art and presents temporary exhibitions by regional and international artists and artist groups, including the exhibition " Todo empezo así ... Warhol in Toledo " by Pop Art exponent Andy Warhol (2017).

In 2019 the museum presented an exhibition on nature with works from the Natural History Museum , one on the hyper- realist Julián Orgaz Zazo, the series " Armas y Almas " by Daniel Garbade , and the hunting pictures with Miguel Delibes by the photographer Francisco Ontañón.
