history
The Tollhaus cultural center has been located on the site of the listed former slaughterhouse in Ostauepark since 1992 as one of several cultural institutions located there. It is the core of a commercial conversion that should include culture and culture-related businesses. Since 2010 it has had two halls with 750 and 450 seats respectively and the associated playable foyers. Around 250 events with a total of up to 100,000 visitors are held each year. The whole area of the former slaughterhouse is in a phase of renovation. After a restructuring that has now been completed, the Tollhaus cultural center will be able to offer new and additional event options with the addition of a second hall.
The cultural center is supported by the Kulturverein Tollhaus eV, founded in 1982, which emerged from a folk club, now has around 250 members and is also involved in various other projects, including creole südwest , the transnational support group in Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg of the regional Preliminary decision for the national Creole competition - world music from Germany .
