Kumbia Queers are a band that was founded by six musicians from Mexico and Argentina in the summer of 2007. It's an explicitly queer band.

history

The band's origins lie in punk rock . Musically she moves in the field of cumbia . At the beginning of her career she sang and published in particular cover versions of well-known songs by artists such as Madonna and Black Sabbath , i.e. from the field of rock, pop and punk history. With their third album, released in 2012, the group primarily turned to their own songs and lyrics.

The Kumbia Queers perform over a hundred times a year. The number of their fans is growing especially in Chile , Mexico and Argentina. In summer 2012 the band went on their third tour in Europe. Within 27 days she played a total of 25 concerts in 23 locations from Stockholm to Madrid. In 2014 the band was in Latin America and - at the invitation of the jury of the SXSW Festival - in the USA . In the summer of 2015, the Kumbia Queers came to Europe again and presented their current record in a new formation without singer Ali (she is dedicated to her solo career). After a two-year break, the band will be back in Europe in summer 2017, under the tour motto: "10 years of tropipunk party".
