Kunigunde von Eisenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kunigunde von Eisenberg , called Kunne , (* approx. 1245 ; † (before October 31st) 1286 ) was the daughter of Otto von Eisenberg and the second wife of Landgrave Albrecht II of Thuringia .

Life

Kunigunde was initially the maid of honor of Albrecht's first wife, the imperial daughter Margaretha von Staufen . The relationship between her and Albrecht may have shattered his marriage.

Margaretha left her husband at the Wartburg in 1270 after, according to legend, she bit her son Friedrich on the cheek while parting. When Margaretha died soon afterwards, the way was cleared for Kunigunde to become Albrecht's second wife, despite his unsuitable descent.

She was buried in the Katharinenkloster in Eisenach .

Marriage and offspring

Kunigunde married Albrecht after 1270. Their marriage had the following children:

  1. Elisabeth (* before 1270, † after April 23, 1326), married before April 11, 1291 Heinrich II. Von Frankenstein († April 23, 1326, March 25, 1327)
  2. Albrecht "Apitz" , Lord of Tenneberg 1290, (* before 1270; † after January 27, 1301, at the latest in 1305), Albrecht preferred Apitz to his sons from his first marriage. Like his mother, he was buried in the Katharinenkloster in Eisenach.
