The Art Academy Bad Reichenhall is a priority to the 1996 Adult Education oriented art school , which from the town of Bad Reichenhall is worn. Their studios are located in the Alte Saline , an outstanding industrial monument from the first half of the 19th century.

history

The initiative for founding the Bad Reichenhall Art Academy came from the artist Walter Andreas Angerer , the saltworks director Richard Griß and the head of the Reichenhall Adult Education Center Rupert Fegg , who then took over the management of the facility as founding director from 1996 to 2014. His successor was Brigitte Hausmann, who has a doctorate in art and culture. The studied sociologist Stefan Wimmer is currently director of the Bad Reichenhall Art Academy.

According to its own statements, the Bad Reichenhall Art Academy is "one of the largest of its kind in Europe". Every year around 2000 art enthusiasts from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other countries attend around 200 courses, which are offered by up to 150 artists.

concept

Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, paper art and artistic photography in various styles, content, technical and material variants are taught in weekly and weekend courses. The needs of beginners to advanced are taken into account. For many participants (especially graduates of the degree programs and master classes) the courses form the basis on the way to a professional artist activity. There are special offers and scholarships for gifted students available for young people (up to 25 years of age). Individual scholarships are also given to talented adults in difficult financial circumstances.

The practical offer is supplemented by theoretical seminars in the fields of art history, art theory and professionalization for the art world. During the holiday season, art courses for children are also held in the art academy.

The Art Academy has been using the municipal gallery in the old fire house in Bad Reichenhall for exhibitions for many years. In addition, the program was supplemented with public events such as film evenings, discussions, readings and much more. Admission is usually free.
