The Seyhan Dam ( Kozan Barajı in Turkish ) is located north of the southern Turkish city of Adana and is used for power generation, irrigation and flood protection. It was built from 1953 to 1956 and was formed by embankments. The dam height is 53.2 m. The dam volume is 7.5 million m³. The reservoir covers an area of 63 km² and has a storage volume of 800 million m³. The hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 54 MW. The standard work capacity is 350 GWh per year. The rivers Çakıt Çayı and Körkün Çayı flow into the western shore of the lake . The Çatalan dam is located upstream . Downstream in Adana city center is the Eski Baraj ("old dam") barrage . When the Seyhan River dammed , the ancient city of Augusta was flooded.
