history

In 2001, a first part of the historic Brennaborwerke was renovated in order to create exhibition rooms for the visual arts . The art gallery was initially operated by the Brandenburg Theater , which curated and carried out all of its large professional exhibitions there .

After the Brandenburger Theater had returned the operation of the Kunsthalle Brennabor to the city of Brandenburg, the closure threatened. For this reason, the Friends of the Kunsthalle Brennabor were formed, in which committed citizens, artists and other personalities of the city came together and who made it their task to maintain the Kunsthalle. The Freundeskreis der Kunsthalle Brennabor eV took over the continued operation for this purpose. Christian Kneisel became the curator of the exhibitions. In addition to the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, the Kunsthalle Brennabor is financially supported by the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg.
