Kyoto Art Museum
The Kyōto Art Museum ( Japanese 京 都市 美術館 , Kyōto-shi bijutsukan ) is a museum for contemporary visual arts in Kyoto . It is in close proximity to the National Museum of Modern Art .
Overview
The Kyōto Art Museum was opened by the city in 1933. It is primarily intended to hold temporary exhibitions, but it also has its own collection of 20th century Japanese painting. The collection includes paintings, sculptures and applied arts, with the focus on the "Japanese style" paintings of the Kyoto School.
