Sachsen Bank Art Prize
The Sachsen Bank Art Prize was awarded every two years from 2002 to 2014 together with the Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts .
background
The art prize was awarded for the first time in 2002 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Landesbank Sachsen . Since the merger of Landesbank Sachsen with Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) in 2008, it has been awarded by Sachsen Bank . The Sachsen Bank , until then a dependent unit of LBBW, but was dissolved in 2018 legally.
The award, endowed with 30,000 euros, saw itself as a sponsorship award for young Central German artists from all areas of the visual arts who were still at the beginning of their careers. Museums, galleries and free exhibition venues in Central Germany could submit suggestions. Own applications were also possible.
An independent jury determined the winner.
In addition to the award ceremony, the Sachsen Bank art prize also included an exhibition of the respective prize winner in the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig and the purchase of one of her works for this museum.
