Kunuk Platou

Kunuk Platou (born March 20, 1964 in Kangaamiut ) is a Greenlandic film producer and illustrator .

Life

Kunuk Platou was born in Kangaamiut as the son of a pastor and grew up in many of the places in Greenland where his father worked. From 1986 to 1988 he attended the Nuuk Art School . He then studied for three years at the Danish Design School of the Royal Danish Academy of Art before attending Den Danske Filmskole from 1996 to 2000 .

At a young age he drew caricatures and newspaper comics. In 1987 he started working as an illustrator for the Atuagagdliutit . Shortly afterwards he published the two comic books Siarsuk (two editions). From 1989 to 1992 and from 1994 to 1996 he worked for the film production company Inuk Media . In 1998 he was the screenwriter of the short film Sinilluarit by Inuk Silis-Høegh . In 2002 he made the film Nanoq as a graduate of his studies. In 2002 he produced the cartoon Ballerina . In the same year he was responsible for the sound engineering of the documentary Inuk Woman City Blues . He also illustrated postage stamps for POST Greenland in 2002 and 2003 . From 2004 to 2005 he worked at the Sermermiut cultural center in Ilulissat . From 2005 to 2007 he was employed as a graphic designer at Kalaallit Nunaata Radioa . He has had his own advertising company since 2003. Kunuk Platou has illustrated several books.
