Inuk Silis-Høegh

Inuk Silis-Høegh (born April 21, 1972 in Qaqortoq ) is a Greenlandic director and artist .

Life

Inuk Silis-Høegh is the son of the Latvian photographer Ivars Sīlis (* 1940) and the Greenland artist Aka Høegh (* 1947). His younger sister is the writer Bolatta Silis-Høegh (* 1981).

He graduated from Bristol University in 1997 with a degree in film and television production . He then made several short films and worked as an installation artist . His art has been exhibited mainly in Greenland and Denmark. In 2010 he obtained another degree, a Master of Fine Arts from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts . In 2013 he exhibited at Cargo Culte Revue II in Paris and Lyon and in the same year he covered the National Gallery of Canada as a melting iceberg for the Sakahàn art festival .

In 1999 he released his first short film Sinilluarit (Good Night), which was shown at 27 film festivals and won the audience award at the Far North Film Festival the following year . In the period after that he made short films and documentaries as well as music videos and advertisements. In 2014 he directed the film Sumé - The Sound Of A Revolution , which deals with the story of the band Sumé by Per Berthelsen and Malik Høegh and was shown at the 2017 Berlinale .
