The Kuratorium für Verkehrssicherheit ( KFV or KfV ) is an Austrian non-profit organization that aims to improve road safety , but also safety in leisure time and at home . The areas of crime prevention and fire prevention round off the work spectrum of the KFV.

History and organization

The association was founded in 1959 as a private association. Members are the ÖAMTC , the ARBÖ , the AUVA and various insurance companies.

The association is based in Vienna-Favoriten. The general manager is Othmar Thann (2015).

The PRR Security Service  GmbH is a 100 percent subsidiary of the PRR, which moves in the business areas of traffic psychology, traffic engineering and fire protection. It acts as an independent company and offers its services to private and public customers.

Agendas

The strategic goal of the KFV is to create added value through comprehensive prevention work. In order to achieve this goal, the KFV not only cooperates closely with political decision-makers, but also with many large commercial companies. The KFV implements studies and projects for you and with you, develops campaigns and strategic partnerships. And the leadership in the area of ​​prevention enables the KFV and its partners to position these initiatives in a publicly effective manner.

Due to the non-partisan organizational form, the KFV also has good contacts to the ministries and legislative bodies and thus has a great influence on the legislation in road traffic law, such as the road traffic regulations.

The association publishes the accident report in Austria every year . Accordingly, most accidents (exactly 308,300) happened in the household in 2018. Then there are leisure accidents (280,400).
