Kurhaus Alexisbad

The Kurhaus Alexisbad was a listed health resort in the Alexisbad district of the city of Harzgerode in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt .

It was located in the center of Alexisbad at Kreisstraße 10 .

Design and history

The building was built in the years 1810/11 in connection with the emerging spa business and was also known as the Traiteurhaus. The inauguration took place on June 12, 1811, the birthday of the Anhalt ruler Alexius . At first the Kurhaus was simply designed. Together with the Logishaus and the bathhouse, it was part of an ensemble of similarly designed houses. The owner of the spa facilities, the manufacturer Traugott Wenzel , had galleries and oriental -looking corner towers added from 1891 to 1893 . The design of the building was characteristic of the location.

From 1931 to 1972 the VDI memorial was in front of the southern gable .

In 2003 the Kurhaus Alexisbad was demolished. It was listed in the local monument register as a Kurhaus under registration number 094 50091 as a monument .
