Kurloff cell
Kurloff cells are a subtype of white blood cells in guinea pigs . These are mononuclear cells, especially lymphocytes , which are characterized by inclusion bodies (Kurloff's bodies) about 8 µm in size and reddish in the standard hematological staining. It is believed that Kurloff cells are a special form of NK cells .
The Kurloff cell content of the blood in female animals is related to the estrogen level . During pregnancy , they can make up as much as 4% of white blood cells.
