Friedrich Alexander von Korff

Friedrich Alexander Freiherr von Korff (born December 30, 1713 in Minden ; † November 12, 1786 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a royal Prussian civil servant at the time of Friedrich II.

Life

Korff's parents were the colonel in Polish service Friedrich Heinrich von Korff (1677–1746) and his wife Sophie Luise von Koehn and Jaski from the Jaskendorf family.

Korff studied nine years of Law at the University of Königsberg and the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt . In 1740 he became Prussian Legation Councilor in Kassel . When Tsarism annexed East Prussia in the Seven Years' War , Korff proved himself “through prudent patriotism”. Frederick II sent him in 1762 to peace negotiations and, because of the return of East Prussia, to diplomatic negotiations with Russia in St. Petersburg and Mitau . In 1766 he appointed Korff as real minister of state and chancellor in Prussia .

Korff played a key role in the reorganization of the Prussian judiciary by the Grand Chancellor von Carmer . In 1782 he created the East Prussian government . From 1784 he was also President of the Budget Ministry and curator of the Albertina.

Korff owned the Samland manors Rippen (1740) and Bledau bei Cranz (1746).

family

He was with Countess Juliane Elisabeth Finck von Finckenstein (born February 18, 1723) daughter of Friedrich Reinhold Finck von Finckenstein (1667-1746). The couple had the following children:

  • Friedrich Heinrich (1743–1813), Prussian captain, heir to Bledau, general landscape director in Königsberg
  • Karl Wilhelm (1746–1783), Prussian lieutenant
  • Sophie Albertine Elisabeth (born April 22, 1744 - † July 22, 1795) ⚭ 1770 Lieutenant General Philipp August Wilhelm von Werther
  • Luise (born May 3, 1756; † April 1, 1789) ⚭ 1775 Lieutenant General Karl Friedrich von Klinckowström
