Karl Friedrich von Klinckowström

Karl Friedrich von Klinckowström , also Klinkowström , (born March 28, 1738 in Steinhagen (Western Pomerania) , † September 21, 1816 in Korklack near Gerdauen ) was a Prussian lieutenant general of the infantry . He became Count of Prussia on June 6, 1798.

Life

He was the son of Bernhard Christoph von Klinckowström († 1754), colonel of a Chur-Hanoverian infantry regiment, and his wife Helene Barbara, née von Greiffenheim (* 1705).

Military career

Klinckowström entered the Swedish military service in the infantry regiment of Count Gabriel Spens in 1750 . In 1753 he took his leave and in the same year became a flag junior in the Württemberg fusilier regiment. He was promoted to ensign in 1757 and took part in the Battle of Prague . He was wounded there and near Zorndorf . In 1759 he was promoted to second lieutenant and adjutant to Prince Heinrich of Prussia and to captain after the battle of Freiberg in 1762 . After the end of the Seven Years' War he was transferred to the "von Syburg" regiment as a staff captain , but one month later he was appointed company commander in the "von Steinwehr" regiment.

He was promoted to major in 1774. During the War of the Bavarian Succession he led a volunteer battalion near Schatzlar in 1778 and was awarded the Pour le Mérite Order for his services . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1783 and to colonel two years later. In 1787 he became commander of the "Graf von Henckels" infantry regiment . On August 11, 1790 he was promoted to major general. In 1791 he became chief of the "Schlieben" infantry regiment . In the Polish campaign he was awarded the Great Red Eagle Order. Most recently he was inspector of the Upper Silesian infantry for five years and had a regiment in Brzeg . In 1798 he was raised to the hereditary Prussian count status. He ended his active service as lieutenant general in 1799.

family

Klinckowström married Luise von Korff (1756–1789) on February 6, 1775, a daughter of the Prussian Budget Minister Friedrich Alexander Freiherr von Korff . The couple had several children:

He was then married to Henriette Theresie Amalie Frederike von Hausen (1775–1848), the only daughter of General Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich von Hausen . The daughter Cecilie Karoline Henriette (1793–1797) emerged from the marriage, which was later divorced.
