Hideo Tanaka ( Japanese 田中 秀 男 , Tanaka Hideo ; born November 12, 1948 in Ōmi, Niigata Prefecture ; † April 25, 2019 ), known by his ring name Kurohimeyama Hideo ( 黒 姫 山 秀 男 ), was a Japanese sumo wrestler . He made his professional debut in March 1964, and first reached the top tier in July 1969 . After he was promoted to the top division in November 1969, he fought there for 71 consecutive tournaments and 1,065 games without missing a single fight. His highest rank was sekiwake . He made 18 appearances in the lower sanyaku -Rängen ( sekiwake or komusubi ) but unusual for someone with this achievement, which is never a tournament championship ( Yusho won) in any division.

He retired in January 1982 and became an elder ( Toshiyori ) in the Japanese Sumo Association . He reached the mandatory retirement age of 65 and left the sumo association in November 2013. His grandson Toranosuke joined the Sakaigawa stable in May 2018 and fights as Tanakayama.

Hideo died on 25 April 2019 at the age of 70 years at a pneumonia .
