The listed electoral Saxon distance column Bärenstein is one of the post mile columns that were erected in the first half of the 18th century in the Electorate of Saxony on behalf of Elector Friedrich August I of Saxony by Land and Border Commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner . It is located on the on the corner of Main Street in the village of Bärenstein of osterzgebirgischen city Altenberg in the district Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains .

history

The column was erected on the market square in 1734. It consists of Elbe sandstone . Conservative restorations were carried out in 1934, 1982 and 2002. Except for the tip, the column is still in the original at the original location after the last restoration on the base with the foundation that was never dismantled, which is almost unique.

construction

The distance column consists of seven parts. The base, pedestal and the crown of the pedestal form the substructure. The superstructure consists of an intermediate plate, shaft, coat of arms and tip.
