The electoral Saxon Postmeilensäule Eibenstock one of the post mile column , on behalf of the Elector Frederick Augustus I of Saxony by the land and border commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner in the first half of the 18th century in the Electorate of Saxony have been built. It is a distance column decorated with a coat of arms. It is located on Postplatz in the western Ore Mountains town of Eibenstock in the Ore Mountains District .

history

The column was erected in 1727. It was made by the stonemason Matthias Lambacher from Johanngeorgenstadt , who used granite from Brettmühl for it. Only the coat of arms was made from Niederschöna sandstone . In the middle of the 19th century the column was torn down and used as building material. In July 2005, after a no longer usable remnant of the original column was found, a copy of the column made of Blauenthal granite and Elbe sandstone was erected. The inscriptions, which are no longer completely recognizable, on the remnant piece, which is now in a museum, were reconstructed by the research group Kursächsische Postmeilensäulen eV. Due to the already finished foundation, however, the installation could not be carried out in the proposed original corner .

construction

The post distance column consists of seven parts. The base, pedestal and the crown of the pedestal form the substructure. The superstructure consists of an intermediate plate, shaft, coat of arms and tip.
