Helmut Caspar

Helmut Caspar (born July 19, 1921 in Wallenrod ; † August 5, 1980 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

After elementary and vocational school, Helmut Caspar attended various agricultural technical schools until 1938 and then worked as a self-employed farmer. From 1940 to 1945 he did military service, was wounded and taken prisoner of war.

As an SPD member, he was honorary mayor from 1952 and a member of the district council of the Lauterbach district , where he led the SPD parliamentary group. After the regional reform in Hesse in 1972, he was a member of the district council in the Vogelsberg district and city councilor of Lauterbach. There he had been city councilor since 1972.

From January 2, 1963 to November 30, 1978 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament. In 1964 he was a member of the 4th Federal Assembly .

NSDAP membership

In a study published in 2011 by historian Hans-Peter Klausch on behalf of the Die Linke parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament , Helmut Caspar's membership in the NSDAP is revealed. According to this study, he was accepted as a member of the NSDAP on September 1, 1939, under membership number 7.118.443. The study points out that Caspar applied for membership at the age of 17 and was one of those who “can be seen as young victims of years of indoctrination, from which they broke free after the war at the latest”.
