It is a distance column decorated with a coat of arms. It is located on the market square in the central Saxon town of Roßwein in the Central Saxony district .

history

The distance column was erected on the market square in 1731. It was made in Dresden and removed in 1862 during the renovation of the town hall. In 1994/95 a remnant piece of the column came to light in the cemetery wall, which is in the local history museum at the town hall. In 2000, a replica of the column was set up at the last known location, which was modeled on the original in cooperation with the local Heimatverein and the research group Kursächsische Postmeilensäulen eV.

construction

The distance column consists of seven parts. The base, pedestal and the crown of the pedestal form the substructure. The superstructure consists of an intermediate plate, shaft, coat of arms and tip.
