Kurt Brasack

Kurt Brasack , also Curt Brasack , (born April 6, 1892 in Schönebeck , † September 28, 1978 in Hamburg ) was a German officer , most recently an SS brigade leader and major general of the Waffen SS .

biography

Brasack had been a member of the SS and NSDAP since 1931 (membership number 267,498). From May 1934 to January 1937 he commanded the 91st SS Standard. He was promoted to SS-Oberführer in 1938 and commanded SS Sections XI and XXX. He was trained as an artillery officer. In January 1942 he was regimental commander in the 5th SS Panzer Division "Wiking" of the Waffen SS . In March 1943 he succeeded Herbert-Ernst Vahl (†) as SS-Standartenführer , briefly as division commander of the 2nd SS Reichs Division until he was replaced by SS group leader and lieutenant general of the Waffen SS Walter Krüger in April. He remained in the division until June 1943. Brasack ended the war as an artillery commander in the IV SS Panzer Corps and the VII SS Panzer Corps.
