Kurt Huemer

Kurt Huemer (born April 14, 1933 in Linz , Austria ; † July 11, 2005 in Röttingen , Germany ) was an Austrian singer and actor .

After studying at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna , his first engagements as an actor took him to Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Lucerne. As a singer and musical performer he appeared in Nuremberg as Tony in the " West Side Story ", and with roles such as Professor Higgins at the Stadttheater Basel, the Hamburg State Opera and from 1974 to 1988 at the Vienna Volksoper .

He gave numerous concerts in London, Amsterdam, Jerusalem and Zurich and toured Japan, including with the Vienna Volksoper. From 1984 to 1987 he was director of the Raimund Theater in Vienna .

Kurt Huemer also appeared in front of the camera for both ORF and ZDF for music films and shows such as “ Gräfin Mariza ” or “ Saison in Salzburg ”. As an author, he wrote the scripts for Franz AntelsDer Bockerer III - The Bridge of Andau ” and “ Der Bockerer IV - Prager Frühling ”.

Huemer also played boulevard roles in the Wiener Kleine Komödie and numerous Nestroy roles at the Roettingen Festival, Huemer worked as a director at the Kammerspiele in the Theater in der Josefstadt, the Vienna Chamber Opera, in Roettingen and at the Langenlois Operetta Festival.

Kurt Huemer died on July 11, 2005 in Röttingen (Bavaria) one day after the premiere of "My Fair Lady", in which he himself played Professor Higgins.
