Kurt Joussen

Kurt Joussen (born April 11, 1912 in Gladbeck ; † September 11, 2002 ) was a German physician and chairman of the Hartmannbund (Association of German Doctors).

Career

After graduating from high school in Bottrop , Joussen studied human medicine at the universities of Tübingen , Münster , Hamburg and Berlin . Since 1932 he was a member of the Catholic student association AV Guestfalia Tübingen . In 1937 he completed his studies with the state examination in Tübingen and received his doctorate in the same year in Münster. During the Second World War he worked as a regimental and staff doctor.

From 1947 to 1987 he worked as a general practitioner or as a miners' surgeon in Bottrop . In 1950 he was elected chairman of the Westphalia-Lippe region of the Hartmannbund and its executive board at federal level. He held both offices until 1968. At the federal level, Joussen was elected deputy chairman in 1963 and chairman in 1965. He was also a member of the city council of Bottrop from 1948 to 1956 and chairman of the health committee of the CDU Westfalen-Lippe from 1962 to 1970 .

Joussen was again active in the Hartmannbund in 1989 as chairman of the "Seniors" committee and was one of the founders of the federal working group of senior citizens' organizations and from 1991 to 1998 its deputy chairman.

Honors

In 1996 Joussen was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
