Kurt Kaufmann

Kurt Kaufmann (born February 8, 1947 in Krems an der Donau ) is an Austrian administrative lawyer and politician ( ÖVP ).

education and profession

After attending the Piarist High School in Krems an der Donau, Kurt Kaufmann studied law at the University of Vienna from 1965 to 1970 . There he became a member of the Catholic student union K.Ö.HV Franco Bavaria Vienna in the ÖCV . In 1970 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD.

After working for the federal state insurance, he worked for the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce from 1971 to 1978 and from 1978 to 1982 for the federal management of the Austrian Economic Association. Since 1982 he has been Director of the Austrian Economic Association for the Province of Lower Austria .

politics

He is a member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and has been a member of the provincial committee of the ÖVP Lower Austria since 1982. From 1990 to 1996 he was district party chairman of the ÖVP Krems.

From 1987 to 1990 he was a member of the Paudorf municipal council.

From 1988 to 1998 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council in the XVII. Legislative Period , XVIII. Legislative period , XIX. Legislative period and the XX. Legislative period . He was a member of various committees. He was chairman of the standing joint committee (1996–1998) and the EU committee of the Federal Council (1998).
