Kurt Müller (born August 4, 1933 in Bad Salzuflen ) is a German writer.

Life

He was born the seventh child into a working class family. He spent his childhood in Bad Salzuflen and attended the eight-grade elementary school there from 1940 . His interest in books showed up early on. After graduating from school in 1948, he worked in craft and industry. At the age of 18 he joined the KPD and attended a party course. He also took part in many actions of the party and the FDJ , including the 1951 World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin.

In April 1957, Kurt Müller moved to the GDR to experience socialism. There he worked in Dessau as a shift worker in a machine factory. His first publications began in 1960. During this time he wrote reports on cultural events for a daily newspaper. Before long he realized that there was a big difference between the propaganda and the reality. At his place of work he got into conflict with his comrades because of a critical article about grievances in the company. He left the company and from then on worked in the trade as a plumber .

In the meantime he had become a member of a circle of writing workers , which was under the direction of the writer Werner Steinberg . Some of his short stories have been published in anthologies and magazines. After the building of the wall and the absolute travel ban, Kurt Müller became a dissident . Threats were issued against him several times. His marriage was divorced and his application to leave the country was approved in November 1975.

After returning to Germany, he continued to work as a plumber. After marrying his second wife, his desire to write came back. Several volumes of short stories from his pen have now appeared. The topics are wide-ranging and local color can often be read out, which speaks for the love of the Lippe homeland. After staying in Herford and Bielefeld, Kurt Müller has been living in his hometown Bad Salzuflen again since 2002. He often appears with readings from his books. Müller is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS).
